The second camp in our series on some of our favorite sleepaway camps is Timber Lake, a co-ed camp in the bucolic Catskills area of New York State. (Read about the first one, here.) Here’s what you need to know about Timber Lake:
“Making friends and learning to be a good friend is what camp is all about,” says Mindy Jacobs, co-director/owner. Campers learn social skills that will last their whole lives, while being immersed in the programming and fun. Like Jay, Mindy started as a camper; both were counselors and held other director positions at camp before becoming owners. Today, they pride themselves on becoming each camper’s “Summer Parents”. They are always available to be that extra support beyond the counselor. It is truly a family setting and becoming part of the TLC Family starts long before the campers’ board the bus on opening day.
