Camp Description

At Camp North Star, children are encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone through activities that emphasize 21st-century life skills – collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Honing these skills helps campers gain confidence when faced with new situations in life.

Camp North Star also teaches children to take risks, how to face adversity, and how to handle failure. Learning how to overcome challenges gives kids the vital skills they need during the summer, throughout school, and for the rest of their lives.

Where do Camp North Star campers come from?

We are a geographically diverse camp with campers from 31 states and 17 countries outside the U.S. It is very typical for first-time campers to attend without a friend. An important part of North Star’s mission is to help campers learn how to make new friends and strengthen existing friendships.

Can a camper choose their activities?

Camp North Star is an elective based camp that allows each individual camper to choose their own activities. Each week campers select their own schedule by choosing 5 activities. Campers will participate in each activity for 1 hour each day. There are choices during each activity period in Athletics, Enrichment, Fine Arts, Music, Outdoors, and Waterfront.

Are the owners involved in the day-to-day camp operations during the summer?

Yes! Steven and Brooke are actively involved owners and directors of camp. They are immersed in every aspect of daily life of camp from morning to night. Because Camp North Star is medium sized camp, it allows Steven and Brooke to know every camper and help each camper become a part of the North Star family. There’s a good reason why camper’s refer to Brooke as “Mama Brooke”. It’s the family feel and sense of community that brings camper and staff back each summer.
