Camp Description

Since 1921, Camp Wayne, a family-owned “brother-sister” camp, has been a place where friendships and memories extend long past summer. The Wayne Experience is about learning, developing relationships, building confidence, and most of all, having fun. Campers return year after year because of their friends and counselors who become “Brothers for Life.” It is with these “Brothers” that campers will learn and develop valuable communication, teamwork, and leadership skills that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Who is the typical "Wayne" camper?

All the boys at camp love to play. With a mix of athletic abilities and different interests in competition, everyone gets involved. Whether playing team sports like basketball and soccer or tackling the climbing wall at Outdoor Adventure, the boys at Wayne are eager to experience the excitement and fun that comes with participating.

Are there co-ed activities at Wayne?

A short walk along the Upper Twin Lake brings you to Camp Wayne for Girls, where a variety of social events take place. The Camp Wayne Playhouse, located at the girls’ camp, is where our aspiring actors and actresses rehearse and perform for the whole camp. All campers have the chance to take part in one of three co-ed shows each summer.

Beyond the Drama Program, campers enjoy a range of co-ed special events and evening activities throughout the summer, including Carnival Day, discos, Fourth of July celebrations, pool parties, movies, and campfires. Many of the trips for our older campers also involve visits to the girls’ camp.

What is your electronics policy?

Electronic devices that can play games, videos, or connect to the internet are not allowed at camp, even if these features are turned off. These devices can hinder the positive interactions in the bunk, which are an important part of the camp experience. The “downtime” at camp is an ideal time for campers to build the strong bonds we encourage, and those who are “tuned out” miss out on this. Camp provides children with a chance to enjoy a simple, uncomplicated environment where personal interaction, creativity, and communication are valued. We’re sure you agree that less “screen time” is in the best interest of your child.
