Camp Winaukee Hero

Camp Description

Camp Winaukee’s mission is to cultivate growth and connection through the power of sports and community. Rooted in tradition and guided by a passion for fun, Winaukee uses positive role models, competition and brotherhood to give young men the skills to thrive both on and off the field.

While the combination of sports, an unmatched waterfront and plenty of outdoor adventure are what often bring boys to Winaukee, what keeps them coming back year after year are the relationships they make and the adventures they experience.

As a mom of two young boys myself, I know how it feels to send your guy off into the world without you. We offer a personalized approach for first time campers to ensure a successful foundational experience. Our team works tirelessly to hire the best staff and provide your son with a traditional overnight camp experience that is about more than just sports. We’ll be next to your son when things don’t go his way, lift him up on his tough days and celebrate the things that make him unique. This is the Winaukee Way.

FAQs About This Camp

Who is the typical Winaukee Family?
The typical Winaukee camper loves to try new things and is very active, a boy who love to ‘be in the mix’. Athletic level varies immensely amongst our campers. Families choose Winaukee because of our excellent sports instruction, small camper-to-staff ratios and cabin sizes, well-rounded experience and to be a part of a community from diverse geographic locations and backgrounds.
Why choose Winaukee instead of a camp closer to home?
There is nothing like a summer in New Hampshire. The humidity is lower up in here the mountains and there is often a perfect breeze off the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. The days are warm and the nights are cool, allowing for often idyllic temperatures for playing outside all day!

Lake Winnipesaukee is a boy’s playground, one of the largest lake in The Northeast! At Winaukee, our boys live a true New England ‘lake life’ experience; from fishing to sailing regattas and day-long boat trips across the lake, the activities are endless and we ensure our boys get in the lake everyday. Safety is always our top priority anytime our boys are on or around the water.

At the foot of the White Mountains, adventure is at our fingertips. From our on-campus ropes course to hikes in both the Lakes Region and the White Mountains, our son will experience once-in-a-lifetime hiking opportunities. Overnight campouts, campfires and s’mores can’t be forgotten either!

Do you do anything special to help first-time campers adjust?
It can be nerve-racking to send your son away to sleepaway camp for the first time. Even if you understand the incredible benefits of doing so, your son may be nervous about any number of ‘unknowns’. At Winaukee, our team of Directors have over 75 years of experience helping boys transition into the camp environment and we take great care to create a personalized plan alongside you to ensure your son’s sucess his first summer. This process builds a unique partnership between you and our leadership team right from the start, ensuring not just an incredible first summer, but a string of summers that help your son become the best version of himself. These offering look like:

– Zoom or home visit with a Director before camp.
– Zoom with all camper’s in your son’s age group before camp.
– Parent Zoom before camp.
– Big Brother Program – connecting before camp and doing intentional programming together in the first few days.
– In-person events and meet-ups throughout the year.
– Phone call from Head Counselor a few days prior to arrival.
– Phone call from a Director within 48 hours of your son’s arrival with an update on how he’s doing.
