FAQs About This Camp

Why a traditional, uniform, all-girls camp?

Point O’Pines promotes well-rounded, active campers. Our goal is for all of our girls to have fun, build their skills, and forge lifelong bonds with their friends. As campers age they are encouraged to lead and become role models for younger campers. Point O’Pines campers develop strong friendships with the girls around them, which creates a true sisterhood that can only be experienced in an all-girls environment. By having a required uniform to wear each day, we remove the pressure to look a certain way and remove any “competitive dressing.” This allows our campers to be themselves and have fun!

Why choose a full-summer camp program?

A traditional camp season of seven weeks transforms sleepaway camp from a simple daily schedule into an experience of developing friendships that last a lifetime. Not only do campers have the opportunity to try out many activities, they have the time to truly master them. Each summer at camp is filled with special events that our oldest campers lead and the most treasured aspects of camp would not be realized in only part of the full season.

That being said, we do offer a 4-week program for first time campers finishing 1st grade through 5th grade. This allows campers who may have never been away from home before to try out camp, and extend to stay for the entire summer if they’d like.

Where do most campers come from?

Last year, we welcomed campers from 25 US states. Certain geographic areas are represented more heavily than others, since most of our campers hear about Point O’Pines through friendships with current camp families. Our largest group comes from the East Coast: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Baltimore/Washington and South Florida are well represented. The New York area is the largest of those groups, with campers divided between Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, Fairfield County, Northern New Jersey and Long Island. We welcome campers from many other states and countries including California, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Washington, Spain and Mexico.
