Katie Foley is a mom to three kids (6-year-old Maggie, 3-year-old Danny and 16-month-old Ellie) and the mom behind Beach Cities Moms. This member of The Local Moms Network (TLMN) tribe helps give moms the gift of time in Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beach—all right outside Los Angeles. We asked this week’s Meet-a-Mom to share a bit more about herself, why she joined TLMN and her favorite spots in her area (a great place to visit if you don’t live there!).

What is your professional background and why did you decide to bring TLMN to your town?
My background is in Public Relations (Fashion and Lifestyle).I’m originally from NY so I had to start from scratch here in LA. I found myself spending hours googling things to do with my kids, where to take swim lessons, where to go to preschool etc. I was compiling all this information already for my personal use and when I was introduced to TLMN it was a no brainer! Having all the resources in one convenient and easy spot-genius!

Your area is known as a favorite for tourists. What are your recommendations for:
Restaurants with the kids: La Playita in Hermosa Beach. They have the best view of the beach in a kid friendly and relaxed environment. We go early to beat the crowd! Also love The Ocean Diner, Rock n Brews, Martha’s on 22nd , Mama Ds, Brooklyn Pizza and Lemonade.  Beckers Bakery for the best cookies!

Restaurant without the kids: My husband and I love to go to El Gringo, Rockerfellers, Barsha and MB Post

Hotel you recommend to friends/family: Terrena Resort in Palos Verdes. It feels like you are in Hawaii, the views are absolutely stunning. They also have an all day kids camp.

Go-to drink spot: The Strand House in MB for views, El Gringo in Hermosa on the upstairs balcony, Barsha Wine and Nicks.

Place you love to get coffee: Yellow Vase has the best iced latte ever, hands down! Drive through Starbucks in Hermosa when I’m in a rush saves me (get there before they close at 10am)!

Favorite stores: The Gum Tree Shop and Tabula Rasa are two of my favorite shops for everyone in the family and always have the best gifts!

Where to entertain the entire family indoors/outdoors:
The Point in El Segundo is pretty great with large grassy area and amazing restaurants and music.

The beach! Our favorite spot to go to is 22nd street where there are swings and The Green Market where you can get kombucha on tap, wine and great food you can bring to the beach. Valley Park and South Park are both places we can stay for hours!

Don’t miss events for visitors (and locals!): Movies and Music on the beach in Hermosa and Manhattan in the month of August, Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair in October and the Christmas Tree lighting and fireworks on the Pier in December-pretty magical!

Our mission is to give moms the gift of time. What are your best time-saving tips/resources as a mom?
Use The Local Moms Network! We are the only resource in the area with everything listed out! Join a mommy and me group to make mom friends. Reminders  disappear in my phone and I end up missing or forgetting about things. Nothing like a good old fashion wall calendar—get one!
